Prayer

Prayer:

Today I went to synagogue and uttered words to an impotent deity from whom I expect nothing. I do this every week, religiously, and believe I will continue to do so in the future. If prayer were simply a communication between me and an imaginary deity then my friends would be completely justified in calling the local insane asylum to have me committed (some still think that would be a good idea).

Prayer is indeed communication, but not between myself and an imagined deity. The word communication in English is related etymologically to the word community, when I pray, I do so in a community context, together with other people who share many of my values and aspirations....(to read more click here)
